The ROI of Coaching

Ok - let’s talk about ROI (return on investment) when it comes to coaching.

And permission to be a little ‘real’ on here?

I think there’s still occasionally a feeling or mistaken belief that coaching is…well...remedial at best! That it’s a secret sign of ‘poor performance’ or that you need ‘help’.

And I’m here to categorically say - WRONG. Let me tell you why - coming from someone that’s sat on all 3 sides of the table: leading and managing teams and attended lots of things, previously in talent development making decisions on training and coaching, and now coaching senior leaders directly.

Coaching: The Investment That Keeps on Giving

1:1 Coaching has an INSANELY STRONG ROI.

A study by PWC + ICF (International Coaching Federation) found companies investing in coaching see an average return of 7x their initial investment. [LINK]

7x!!!!! That’s got to get your CFO’s attention.

And this ROI goes beyond the transformation in the individual; leaders who work with a coach don’t just get better at their own jobs; they also inevitably elevate their teams, relationships with clients, customers and stakeholders and ultimately it hits the bottom line. Positively

We’re talking:

✔ Stronger team performance

✔ Clearer communication & decision-making

✔ More resilience & less burnout in new roles

Why Coaching > Generic Leadership Programs

I’m going to be blunt here: even with the best of intentions, leadership training programs can be hit or miss.

Some programs are insightful. Some are an expensive excuse for a day off-site with bad coffee and random exercises.

The problem with leadership programs is almost inevitable - because they are designed for a group (and you never quite know who you’ll get attending), they have to be, to a degree, GENERIC. You have to cover enough context to get everyone to a baseline of information. But they often don’t have the time to get to the depth needed to make an impact. Let alone the impact that YOU specifically need or how to apply it to your unique situation.

When you reach the realms of senior leadership - you’re beyond that. And I’ve lost count of the number of clients who have described these programs as “Interesting but….I walked away with more questions than answers.” or “I got more out of the conversations with others on my table than the actual content”.

Traditional training programs offer general knowledge.

Coaching, on the other hand, gives you:

✔ One-on-one insight & guidance—Your challenges, your solutions. Customised and personalised.

✔ Built-in accountability — you’ll be challenged and pushed to implement the things we discuss

✔ A confidential, solo space so you can talk freely — There’s no agenda, no judgement, no office politics and no one to impress.

When it comes to making a significant investment, I would recommend Coaching > Generic Leadership Programs all day long.

My Signature Method and Why

I take a structured yet tailored approach over four months because transformation takes time—but too much time, and momentum fizzles. I want us to stay focused.

My method balances depth with efficiency, ensuring you walk away with lasting impact.

And no, I don’t currently offer group coaching. Why?

Because your leadership challenges aren’t generic, and your coaching experience shouldn’t be either. It’s also a safe space - some of the things that come up can be deeply personal. I can understand why you wouldn’t always want to share these in a group space.

I only take on a certain number of 1:1 clients in one period. This is so you get my full attention, my expertise, and a space designed for real growth.
